Why did Jesus cry?

Pastor Darcy MacCallum continues our series, Jesus According to John. In John 11-13 we discover a paradigm for for how we, as followers of Jesus, should engage our world. Resurrection life requires walking the way of the cross and in terms of sharing that life with others, it means this: 1. Like Jesus before the tomb of Lazarus, We must feel the pain of the people we seek to serve. And, like Jesus rising to wash the disciples feet, 2. Our acts of service must be driven by a genuine other-focused, cross-shaped love.

Scripture References: John 11:35, John 11:21-37, John 11:33

From Series: "Jesus According to John"

John, one of Jesus’ most devoted followers and closest friends, gives us a personal and powerful look at the Son of God. Chapter by chapter, John builds a case for the true identity of Jesus as the saviour of the world who offers eternal life to all who believe in him. The gospel writer highlights seven miraculous signs and some of Jesus Christ’s most remarkable claims about his identity, all so that “you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name” (John 20:31).
