Renew Church is hosting a three-part financial workshop series designed to help you manage money wisely, invest biblically, and build financial security. Led by Erik Russell (Executive Director) and presented by Derek Hounsell (Finance Committee Member, Personal Investment Advisor), each session provides practical, Canada-specific financial strategies rooted in biblical stewardship.

Workshops take place at the Renew Church office, 6475 Century Ave., Mississauga, ON. Each session builds on the previous one and is designed for all ages and financial stages. They provide practical insights, biblical wisdom, and interactive learning opportunities. Whether you’re just starting out or planning for financial independence, these workshops will help you do good and do well with your money.




Workshop 1: Foundations of Biblical Stewardship & Investing
Saturday, March 22 | 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

In this foundational session, we’ll explore God’s principles for managing money, why investing is biblical, and how to get started with tax-efficient investment strategies in Canada. Topics include tithing, financial stewardship, the power of compound growth, and key investment tools such as TFSAs, RRSPs, and FHSAs.

Who should attend?
This workshop is ideal for young adults, newlyweds, or anyone new to investing, but it is valuable for all ages as a biblical refresher on financial stewardship.

Workshop 2: Building a Strong Investment Strategy
Sunday, April 13 | 12:30 PM – 2:30 PM

Building on the foundation of Workshop 1, this session will guide you in developing a strong investment strategy that aligns with biblical wisdom. We’ll cover asset allocation, risk management, long-term growth strategies, and budgeting for giving while making smart financial decisions.

Who should attend?
This workshop is perfect for young couples planning their financial future, middle-aged professionals looking to optimize their portfolios, and anyone wanting to grow wealth while remaining faithful stewards of God’s resources.

(Feel free to have lunch ahead of time or bring your lunch to eat at the church office. Doors will open at 12:00 noon.)

Workshop 3: Advanced Investing & Financial Independence
Saturday, May 10 | 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM

In this extended session, we’ll dive into advanced financial topicsincluding retirement planning, passive income, tax-efficient investing, real estate, legacy giving, and managing mortgage vs. investment priorities. We’ll also explore how to leave a financial legacy for your family and the church.

Who should attend?
This workshop is particularly valuable for middle-aged and older adults, those planning for retirement, and anyone interested in wealth-building strategies that maximize both personal and Kingdom impact. However, all attendees will gain valuable insights into wise financial management for the long haul.
